Claytor Lake State Park is conveniently located near I-81 and provides easy access to its campgrounds. The campsite offers an interesting layout perfect for RVs. The D-loop has spacious and mostly level gravel pull-through sites and back-in sites that provide some privacy and are larger. Though the bathhouses are a bit dated, they are clean and adequate. The dump station is located towards the exit near the D-loop, but there are two additional ones between loops B and C. The camp host is always active and helpful. Visitors will also appreciate the scenic beauty of the park during the fall season. Claytor Lake State Park offers visitors a chance to enjoy boating at the marina and to explore the parks easy hiking trails. A good Verizon signal is available though At&T may not be as strong. Large rigs may have difficulty navigating roads and spaces but it is still doable. If you enjoy quiet and roaming wildlife, this park is definitely worth a visit.
