Burke Lake Park is a great place for a quick night out camping. Located in Burke, Virginia, close to George Mason University and host to many high school cross country meets, the park offers a beautiful lake with a 5-mile gravel walking/running/biking trail around the lakes perimeter. The campgrounds are located in the woods along the lake and have access to decent bathrooms. The campgrounds are primitive, with no running water or electricity at the sites, but there is a communal bath house with water, restrooms and showers. The park is geared more toward day use than overnight camping, but there is a small camping area with 40 sites. The campground sites are big and there are trails and other activities nearby. The park also offers Par 3 golf, mini-golf, frisbee golf, fishing, rowboat rentals, ice cream parlor, carrousel, small train rides, and a good hiking/biking/fitness trail. Private canoes and kayaks are allowed, but no rentals. The staff are friendly and the campground is well maintained, making it a great spot for families.
