This campground is a hidden gem tucked away in the Virginia countryside. It features lots of activities such as geocaching, fishing, hiking, boat launch, canoe racks, playground, and a Junior Ranger program for the kids. The roads are hilly, but the campground is well-maintained and the sites are spacious and level with a picnic table, lantern/trash pole, and a fire pit with grill gate. There is a store with a nature center on site as well. The campground is open all year round and is great for both RV and tent camping. The sites are not very private, but the park is quiet and peaceful. There is an on site host to answer your questions and a visitor center that is staffed during normal business hours. The overnight rate is high for a site with no sewer connection, but it is worth it for the great amenities and activities.

Powhatan State Park offers a variety of camping options including yurts, primitive sites, and group camping. The River Bend Campground has 29 campsites with electric and water hookups for tents, popups, and RVs up to 60 feet long. The park also has picnic shelters, multi-use trails, and access to the James River for fishing and boating. Horseback riding is also available on the park's bridle trails.
