Located in Reston, VA, Lake Fairfax Park is a fantastic base camp for those exploring Washington DC or hiking in the surrounding areas. The park has excellent hiking/mountain biking trails, athletic fields, a water park (in summer), and a lake. Trail runners will love daily runs on the amazing trails. The nearest Metro station is about 2 miles away, with free parking available or an adjacent garage with a daily rate of $5. Visitors can budget for DC meals, as there are plenty of great and reasonable restaurants in the Reston Center, located just south of the park. The park was well-maintained and offered clean bathrooms with fantastic hot water in the showers. The camping sites are electric only; however, water and a dump station are nearby. The staff is friendly, and the park is quiet at night. A sure deal for hikers and campers!
From The Campground
Lake Fairfax Campground offers spacious campsites that are both big-rig and tent friendly, large group camping sites for groups up to 100 people, RV electrical hookups (30 and 50 amp), fresh water fill-up station (no water on sites), restrooms and showers, hiking trails, swimming and fishing, Wi-Fi access available at the registration office, pet friendly environment, picnic areas and grills, and proximity to attractions. Dogs must be leashed at all times. Please clean up after your pet. Animals may not be left unattended. Reservations are strongly recommended for all sites. Volunteer opportunities for campground hosts are available! Campground hosts serve as a 'live-in' host for a four (4) week period.
