What others are saying
Mathews Arm is a campground in Shenandoah National Park with 165 semi-primitive campsites. The location is great because its near the northern entrance and exit of Shenandoah National Park. The sites were easy to find and well marked. The staff at the campground were nice. However, the sites we had did not allow generators, and we ran batteries down to 50%, which is not ideal. We wished we could run the generator 2-3 hours per day to recharge the batteries. The temperature at night was in the low 20s, and there was no electricity or hookups for RVs. The campground is build right on top of each other, with very little space separating the campsites. This made it more crowded and not as comfortable. Overall, our stay here was average, and we would rate it three stars.
