Big Meadows Campground in Shenandoah National Park is an ideal spot for nature lovers looking to explore and appreciate the beauty of the area. With plenty of activities and amenities, such as hiking, biking, horse carriage rides, outdoor movies, massage spa, museum, and more, there is something for everyone to enjoy. There are no hookups but potable water is available at the trailer dump station site, and there are plenty of spigots around the campground to fill up smaller jugs. Campsites are dirt/gravel and not all are level, so be prepared for a bit of work to get situated. There is a nice picnic table and fire ring at each site, and campfire wood is sold on site along with a cute little store with essentials like Smores Kits. The Great Room is a nice air conditioned place to relax or work with multiple outlets to charge your phones. Dont forget flashlights with good batteries as youll need them if you walk to the restroom at night or go to evening programs after dark. There is a visitor center, amphitheater, laundry, trails, showers, and ranger talks and walks. There is also a camp store with a walk through, partially interactive, verbal & written narrative of the history of the area. If coming in October, it is advised to take a midweek trip to avoid the tourist traffic pouring out of Washington, DC.
