What others are saying about this campground
Staunton River State Park is a great destination for families and outdoor enthusiasts alike. Located on the confluence of the Dan and Staunton Rivers, the park offers a variety of activities, including hiking, biking, fishing, wildlife viewing, boating (if you bring your own boat), stargazing, disc golf, playing on the playground, tennis, and swimming. The park is part of the International Dark Sky Association, making it an ideal spot for stargazing, and they even offer free telescope rentals at the visitors center. The campground offers graveled sites with fire rings, picnic tables, and room for two cars. There are also cabins available with wonderful views of the surrounding area. The park has a large central pool, a concession stand, and a nature learning lab. The park staff also offers a variety of activities, such as Smores, Campfire Cooking, Wagon Ride, Canoeing, Bee wax candle making, Geocaching and making homemade ice cream. The park is well-maintained and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. However, it can be a bit difficult to find your way around the park at night, as the campgrounds are not well-lit, and the instructions for leaving the park are not easy to find. The park is a great spot for families and outdoor enthusiasts alike, and is worth a visit.
