The campground is quiet and staff is friendly and helpful. The secure gated location is visually appealing and easy to navigate. The park may not be super luxurious but still, it offers a pleasant camping experience. However, the dumpsters are located just beyond the exit gate and set back quite a bit. The campground is the only option within 17 miles of Lynchburg, VA, making it an expensive choice if you need to stay in the area. Despite being located in a convenient area, campers criticize the owners charging policy for visitors, which is greed in their opinion. It is pretty frustrating to be charged every time someone comes to visit, and in this case, family members coming to spend time together. Campers also complain about the condition of some of the sites, as they have poor grass growth, clay/dirt/mud, and are not neatly defined, which gives the park an unbecoming appearance. Another complaint is the state of picnic tables, which are old and moldy, making them unusable. These issues aside, Paradise Lake Family Campground is still a good choice for camping.
