Chippokes Plantation State Park in Surry, VA is the perfect place for a camping trip. With its huge pool, sprawling James River, and easy access to the Chippokes Mansion & Farm Museum, there is plenty to do. Hunt for sharks teeth on the beach, take a stroll along the shoreline, or tour the mansion and other historical sites. The campsites are well maintained with picnic tables, fire rings, and lantern poles. Enjoy the working farm and gift shop with old artifacts, a butterfly garden, and plenty of trails. Take a free ferry across the James River to explore Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown. The bathrooms are spotless and maintained multiple times a day, and there are four private shower rooms with lots of hot water. Firewood and ice are available for a fee. There is a ban on outdoor fires, so you wont be able to sit by the campfire. Enjoy your stay at Chippokes Plantation State Park!

Chippokes State Park offers a variety of accommodations including cabins, yurts, and campsites. The park is home to the oldest structure in the area, the Walnut Valley House, which has four bedrooms and sleeps eight. The cabins range from one to three bedrooms and are ADA accessible. The yurts are a modern adaptation of an ancient nomadic shelter and offer a unique camping experience. The park has 12 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, as well as fishing and boating opportunities on the James River and College Run Creek. The park also has picnic shelters and a conference shelter available for rent.
