What others are saying about this campground
False Cape is a primitive campground located in the Back Bay Wildlife Refuge along the southern coast of Virginia. The only way to access the park is by boat, foot, or bike, making it a serene oasis away from traffic and crowds. The campground offers two sites to choose from, one located behind the dunes and the other directly on the sand. There are no campfires allowed, but the proximity to the beach and the solitude cant be beat. The park has some great hiking trails, many leading to historical landmarks, and plenty of shorebirds and waterfowl to spot. The kids will love riding through Back Bay, and the campsite is close to the beach with plenty of sand for kids to play in. There is a Visitors Center with cold drinks, air conditioning, full-service bathrooms, and friendly attendants. The campground is also close to a fishing pond, so watch your step for snakes. The weather is usually gorgeous and the hike is a great way to get away from civilization and enjoy the beach.
