GenieSummary

First Landing State Park is a great family-friendly campground located near Virginia Beach and Chesapeake Bay. It offers a variety of activities for all ages, including hiking and biking trails, nature programs, swimming, paddle boarding, and more. The campground features a variety of campsites, ranging from small and private to roomy and secluded. It also has a camp store, laundry room, and dump station. The beach is easily accessible and offers gentle waves, perfect for little kids. The nearby military base provides a unique experience with the sound of reveille in the morning and taps in the evening. There is an additional fee for pets, and the showers and restrooms need some improvement. The campground is a great place to visit in the off-season as it is close to attractions such as the Virginia Beach Boardwalk and Aquarium, the Cape Henry Lighthouses, and the Narrows.

From The Campground

First Landing State Park offers a variety of camping options including cabins, yurts, and campsites with and without electric/water hookups. The park also features hiking and biking trails, swimming and boating in the Chesapeake Bay, fishing and crabbing, and picnic shelters. The park's natural area is included in the National Register of Natural Landmarks because of its distinction as the northernmost location on the East Coast where subtropical and temperate plants grow and thrive together. The park's name was changed in 1997 from Seashore State Park to First Landing State Park to reflect its heritage as the first place where members of the Virginia Company landed. They went on to settle Jamestown.
