This campground is a great spot for a weekend getaway. Located near the Historic Triangle of Jamestown/Williamsburg/Yorktown, the campground is run by James City County and offers amazing views of the Chickahominy River. It is a great spot for activities like kayaking, swimming, fishing, biking, and hiking. There are lots of trees for shade, a playground, a pool, and a fishing pier. The sites are big but close together, and there are electric and basic sites available. There is a store/office, water, electric, sewer, group sites both large and small, boat rentals, swimming pool, canoe and kayak launch and rentals, basketball goal, picnic table, dirt/grass pads, trash, boat launch, and disc golf. However, the campground is in need of maintenance, such as new asphalt to fill pot holes in the roadway and gravel to cover dirt in sites. There is also low water pressure, no gate or controlled access, and no WiFi. The bathrooms are old but clean, and the fire pits are usually full of residue. The campground is lit up like a Christmas tree all night long, so it is not dark sky friendly. It is a great spot for a weekend getaway, with lots of activities and beautiful views.
