What others are saying about this campground
Birch Bay State Park is a campground recently taken over by Sun Outdoors. It is in the process of being restored to its former glory, but still has a long way to go. The on-site store is well-stocked, and even has a sushi bar. The park is almost empty, and the sites are overgrown with weeds and marked with old, rotten railroad ties. The roads are quite rough, and drivers often speed through the park, kicking up dust. There is no suggestion of where to find a spot to receive satellite TV. The rules state that RVs may not be left unattended overnight without permission from management. There is a pick your own site system in place, and tents are often in the 50 amp spaces. The swimming pools are large and clean, and there is a hot tub, tennis court, pickleball court, and horseshoe pits. There is no wifi, but the management is working to make it accessible at no cost. The staff does not do a good job of cleaning up the grounds, and the area around the dumpsters is a mess. The park is geared towards family camping and kids, but there are no real adult activities planned. The roads are not graded and have pot holes, and cell phone reception is only available in certain areas. The park has the potential to be great, but it needs proper management and upgrades to make it an enjoyable stay.
