From The Campground
Horse Camp: Kalama is a campground located just outside the west boundary of Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument, on the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. The campground offers 27 sites that accommodate primarily equestrian users, with nearby access to trails for horseback riding, hiking, and biking. Sixteen reservable campsites are for equestrians with trailers only. There are ten first come, first serve, standard non-equestrian sites, and one host site. The campground loop trail allows easy access to the main trailhead which accesses Toutle Trail #238, Cinnamon Trail #204 & Fossil Trail #242. Over 50 miles of trails and closed roads are available from the campground. The campground does not have potable water, and water is suitable for horses only.
