Nestled between the Mountain Loop highway and the Sauk River, Clear Creek Campground is a beautiful USFS campground with 13 sites, no services, and pit outhouses. The campground is located next to Baker Lake where you can swim or kayak in the stunning emerald green/blue water. There are plenty of hiking trails nearby and the Old Sauk Trailhead is just about a mile away. However, you will likely need to drive to the trailheads for most hikes. The town is also less than 10 minutes away and provides essential items if you need them. The campground is clean and well-maintained, with only a few mosquitoes. Although the campground is near the road, the traffic is minimal at night. Cellphone reception is available if you prefer to stay connected. It feels like a mini KOA, but minus the fancy amenities. As always, pack in pack out, leave no trace, and enjoy the beauty of the natural surroundings.
