What others are saying about this campground
This campground is located on Tanwax Lake, about 30 miles from the Nisqually entrance to Mt. Rainier. It features a lake and dock with chairs and swings, free WiFi, and boat and kayak rentals. The street is lined with cars since the spots are too small to fit anything beyond your camper. The park is mostly occupied by seasonals, but there are 8 spots available for rent. The bathrooms feature no interior doors and moldy showers, and the electrical 30 amp service continually trips the breaker. The staff are friendly, but the entry turn is very tight and slopes downhill. The lake and dock are really nice and relaxing, and the common area by the lake is also nice. Fishing is available in the summer for trout and bass.

From The Campground

Rainbow RV Resort on Lake Tanwax is a year-round full-service RV park with great fishing facilities including a 170-foot handicap accessible dock, rental boats, fishing and swimming pontoons, and many other great amenities. The resort is nestled in the NW foothills of Mt. Rainier and is an excellent home base for many area attractions including NW Trek Animal Preserve, Mt. Rainier, the Elbe Steam Train, Pt. Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, and much more. The resort raises 18,000 - 25,000 rainbow trout in their net pen each year and is a year-round fishing lake. On any visit to the park, you may see deer grazing on the property, bald eagles and osprey flying about, an occasional heron, mink, otter, or beaver around the lake, and at night hear the wolves howling at NW trek.
