What others are saying about this campground
Newhalem Creek Campground is an excellent and no-frills campground located in Marblemount, WA. The walk-in spots are beautiful and private, with some located right on the water. The camping sites are spacious, and some are very private, offering a deep dive into the forest. The surroundings are clean and well-maintained, with huge trees and good separation between most sites. There are hiking trails along the gorgeous river, and numerous walks accessible from the campground. The area is very quiet and peaceful at night and is perfect for exploring North Cascades National Park. The bathrooms in the group site are better than the ones in Loop C and are easy to access. This large campground is also a great place to camp after mid-September, as it is free because the reservation-only loops are closed. There is a dump station that campers can use at the exit. While there is no electricity or water hookups, the sites come with bear-proof storage cabinets, and there is ample shade for campers who use solar panels. Overall, Newhalem Creek Campground is a wonderful and clean place to camp, perfect for those looking for a peaceful retreat in nature.

From The Campground
North Cascades National Park offers several drive-in and boat-in campgrounds for visitors to enjoy. During the operational season (mid-May to early September), all sites in campgrounds along State Route 20 and in Stehekin can be reserved in advance. After the operational season (from early September throughout the winter), campgrounds along State Route 20 transition to first-come, first-served camping. Most of the campgrounds close in late September. The following campgrounds remain open year-round for first-come, first-served camping with no fee, no water and no trash services: Goodell Creek (19 sites), Gorge Lake (8 sites), and 10 walk-in, tent-only sites at Colonial Creek South (sites #64 to #73).
