What others are saying about this campground
The spots are of a generous size, however, they are arranged in pairs with the picnic table and yard of one in each set on the offside of the rig. We found it to be a decent state park campground with the common lack of amenities, 30 amp, no Wi-Fi, no TV, and no sewer for $45/night. Fort Worden State Park is an ideal destination for RVers looking for a scenic and historical getaway. Located in Port Townsend, Washington, the park features 434 acres of land with two miles of saltwater shoreline overlooking the Puget Sound. There are two campgrounds, the Beach and Forest, both offering 80 sites with full hookups for $45 per night. The Beach campground is situated on the point adjacent to the Straits of Juan De Fuca, so it can be quite windy at times, but it has a beach, pier, boat launch, light house, and another military gun battery complex. The Forest campground is situated on a hill with no view of the water, but it is close to the Conference Center and all the action. Both campgrounds have large, paved, and level sites with plenty of room to spread out, and both have bathhouses with pay showers. There are also large houses and dormitories available to rent for family reunions and church retreats. The park also offers plenty of activities, including hiking trails with beautiful vistas of the water and interesting decommissioned artillery sites, whale-watching tours, shopping, and eating in Port Townsend. Unfortunately, there is no Wi-Fi or TV, and no sewer hookups. Bring flashlights to explore the World War II era batteries, which are cool and dark year-round. The city bus comes right to the park and will take you to historical downtown Port Townsend and makes regular trips back.
