GenieSummary

Palouse Falls is a hidden high desert gem, located miles outside of established civilization. It is a beautiful place to visit and take photographs, with a 200 foot waterfall and stunning views of the canyon. There are trails to the bottom of the falls, and a swimming hole that is safely far enough away from the great falls. The campground is currently closed, but when open, it is a large field with no separation between sites, and no shade or privacy. It is a great place for a day trip, but not ideal for young children or those looking for a week-long camping experience. Be sure to bring a Discover Pass and watch out for rattle snakes. If you are a night sky photographer, this is the perfect spot for you, as there is limited to no light pollution.

From The Campground

Palouse Falls State Park is a 105-acre park located in the dramatic flood-carved Palouse River Canyon. The park is home to Palouse Falls, one of the few active waterfalls left along the massive glacial flood path. The falls were first documented in 1841 and have long been a location used by Native American tribes. The park was dedicated in 1951 and was designated as the state waterfall in 2014. Visitors can enjoy hiking, picnicking, and camping in the park.
