The park is open from May to late October and offers a variety of activities on the lake. The RV sites are very small and close together, making it difficult to maneuver large rigs into the sites. The park is managed by an extended family, and visitors have reported seeing workers leaving early in the morning in noisy vehicles and traffic in and out of the park at all hours. The park is located 9 miles down a winding mountain road, making it difficult for an overnight stay. The sites are level and clean, but there is no shade and the sites are very close together. The park is kid friendly, with a special area for the little ones to ride their bikes. Despite the negatives, visitors have reported that the campground is very clean and the clientele are friendly and well-mannered.

Lake Stephens is a 2300-acre county park with a 272-acre pristine mountain lake and 1900 acres of hardwood forest. The park offers recreational opportunities such as hiking, camping, fishing, boating, and access to local attractions and events. The campground is open from May 1st to October 31st and offers RV and tent camping. The park is located nine miles west of Beckley, in Raleigh County West Virginia, and twenty-five minutes from the New River Gorge National Park.
