GenieSummary

Whittaker Campground is a peaceful and secluded campground tucked into the mountains of Appalachia. Located next to the Cass Scenic Railroad and near Snowshoe Resort and the Green Bank Observatory, this campground is a hidden gem. The hosts are very gracious, and the campground is clean and well-maintained. Unfortunately, due to the Radio Quiet Zone for the Observatory, there is no cell service or WiFi available. However, AT&T service is available at Snowshoe Resort a short drive away. The campsites have full hookup for 50 and 30 amp, water, and sewage, and there is a dump station on the campground. The owner makes rounds a couple times a day to check in and collect trash. The area is beautiful and a great place to unplug, and the owner is super nice and always helpful. There is plenty of area around for exploration of the woods, and the views are stunning. The bathrooms, however, were a bit of a disappointment, with only one toilet working in the womens room and none in the mens. The drive to the campground from I-81 is not for the faint of heart, especially in a larger RV. Overall, this campground is a great place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the mountains.
