The Outpost at The New River Gorge is a newly renovated campground located in close proximity to the New River Gorge National Park. It offers full hook-up sites, cabins, tent platforms, and group field camping. The campground is well maintained and very clean, with a beautiful creek running through it and lovely views of the gorge from the campground. The bathrooms are modern and spotless, with rain showers, laundry, and a small kitchen area. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and the owner goes out of their way to ensure that guests have everything they need. There is a steep hill down into the campground, but guests are advised to pass the campground, turn around in the space mentioned, and enter that way. Firewood is for sale on-site, and there is live music on Saturday nights. The campground is close to the New River Gorge Bridge and the Visitor Center, and is a great homebase for a weekend of exploring.
