Battle Run Campground is located on a narrow peninsula, offering a variety of sites arranged to fit the area. There are a mixture of back-in sites and some that are more like parallel parking. Most sites are level, with some having a bit of slope. During the First Come, First Served time of year, there are plenty of sites available. The bath houses are clean but need some repair and renovation work. The campground offers electric only, clean restroom and shower (though dated), plenty of room between campsites, gravel but not always level, and 50amp electric, water spigots, and a dump station. After Labor Day, all sites are first come first serve. The campground is popular and offers a great base to explore the New River Gorge area. It is clean but some fire rings have trash. Pull through sites have slides that extend over the road. There is no one at the gate to help newcomers with questions. Half of the park is closed and the lake is drained low. The campground is full of families having a great time and the spacing of the RV spots is generous. There is no WiFi, but cell service is good. Trees need trimmed and pull thrus are not big rig friendly. The lack of water and sewer connections is the only negative. The swim area is nice but gets deep quickly. There is a playground, horseshoes, volleyball and basketball areas. The staff is nice and the restrooms are cleaned daily.
