Located in Sutton, WV, Gerald Freeman is a campground with stunning scenery and open, well-spaced sites. It offers full hookups and is ideal for those who want to stay connected as it provides unobstructed Starlink connection. However, the campground has poor AT&T cell service. The access road to the campground, SR 15, could be challenging for new drivers with larger rigs since it is a narrow, hilly, and curvy road. But once inside the park, the roads are fine. The campground is mostly quiet, with only 10% capacity, and has exceptional camp hosts. There are two nearby hiking trails that are okay but not outstanding. Some visitors have reported seeing more ground trash than average, but the playgrounds are well-appointed. Visitors experienced a significant nuisance due to the loud jackhammering from the new bridge project next to the campground. Despite the occasional noise issues, Gerald Freeman is an average COE campground that many would return to, given the gorgeous scenery and peaceful retreat that it provides.
