Ground Squirrel CG is a campground situated on the shores of Lake Petenwell, the second largest lake in Wisconsin. It offers a variety of sites, from tent sites to big rigs, with power and water hookups and a dump station. The newer West Expansion Area section of the CG is currently under construction and will soon have a bathhouse/showers and dump station. The campground is mostly occupied by seasonal campers, but the staff is slowly discontinuing the annual rentals. The lake is unfortunately contaminated by a toxic blue-green algae bloom (cyanobacteria) and swimming is not recommended. The campground has a great Group camping area and a pavilion to use for pot luck, a boat launch and docking area, a store with ice cream, and a playground for the kids. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and the campground is conveniently located near the Sand Valley Golf courses. Unfortunately, the bath house is not in the best condition and there is no option for sewer at the sites.

Petenwell County Park is the 2nd largest county park in Wisconsin, situated on Lake Petenwell, the 2nd largest body of water in Wisconsin. This 160-acre park is open year-round and offers a game room, designated swimming area, boat launch, playground equipment, hiking trails, Harbor of Refuge with slips for transient use, heated shower/restroom facility, visitor/registration station with concession/game room, and paved parking lots with more space. The park also has an ATV/UTV campground that provides campers with direct access from their campsite to the Adams County ATV/UTV trail system. Firewood and ice are available on-site.
