GenieSummary

Blackhawk Park is a quiet and well-maintained Army Corps of Engineers campground located along the Mississippi River. The flat sites are reasonably sized and offer water hydrants and access to a dump station. Though there are no water or sewer connections at the sites, the 50 amp service works great. This park is an excellent deal, especially with the America the Beautiful Senior Pass. Visitors can enjoy watching a family of muskrats swim and play on the opposite bank while bald eagles soar overhead. The park has a playground, but there arent many activities to do if you dont have a boat. In warm weather, the stagnant water in the lagoon provides lots of mosquitoes. The west loop has newer, gravel pads, and good roads but no water or shade. The swimming area is distant from the upper loop and is not a swim destination but is usable. The restrooms and showers are clean, well-maintained, and free of charge. The staff encountered are all welcoming and friendly.
