What others are saying about this campground
The trains can be quite loud and frequent, especially at night. We stayed in the North campground and the sites were large and well spaced out with mature trees separating them. The campground offers a boat launch and dock, and a sand beach. There is plenty of wildlife in the park, and it is close to fishing, boating, and unique shopping opportunities. The campground offers tent pads, fire rings, picnic tables, and trees that are good for hammocking. The restroom facilities are clean and offer both bathrooms and showers. The shore consists of large rocks to prevent erosion, making it difficult to put in a canoe but easy to carry a kayak into the water. The boat traffic on the channel can get heavy at times, and there are many mosquitoes in the area due to the swampy area. Overall, Merrick State Park is a nice clean standard campground with plenty of sites and some scenery on the river. It is close to fishing, boating, and unique shopping opportunities, but the loudness of the train horns at night may be a deterrent for those who are light sleepers.

From The Campground
Merrick State Park is located on the beautiful backwaters of the Mississippi River. All island campground sites and some sites in the south campground have river access for mooring watercraft or fishing directly from the sites. There are 3 miles of hiking trails, and two boat landings provide easy launching for boats of all sizes.
