What others are saying about this campground
Richard Bong State Recreation Area in Kansasville, WI is a great place for a peaceful getaway. The park is massive with beautiful nature. The private sites are the best part-about them. Though most sites are narrow in the front with an open area in the rear, there is a barrier of trees/growth between the sites to allow for privacy. The trails are well maintained, and we had a great time hiking around the lake. Besides hiking, there are many activities to enjoy, such as fishing, wildlife watching, swimming at the beach, and playgrounds for kids. ATVs, rocket launch, and waterfowl hunting are also allowed. However, the campsite can get crowded, and there arent many electrical hookups, so you might find it challenging to find a spot. Also, generators are not allowed, which may pose a problem if you need AC in stifling heat. Lastly, the bathrooms need better maintenance, but overall, we still enjoyed our time at Richard Bong State Recreation Area and would recommend it to others.

From The Campground

Richard Bong State Recreation Area is a beautiful park named after Major Richard I. Bong, America's leading air ace during World War II. The park was once designated to be a jet fighter base, but was abandoned three days before concrete was to be poured for a 12,500-foot runway. Local citizens had the foresight to protect this open space for future generations. The park offers camping, a nature center, picnic areas and shelters, a special use zone, and hunting opportunities.
