What others are saying about this campground
This campground is located in the Nicolet National Forest between Wabeno and Laona. It is a rustic campground with no showers and vault toilets. Half of the sites have direct water access and all have a gravel pad, a picnic table and a large fire pit. The lake has a swimming area, a beautiful sandy beach, and is perfect for fishing, swimming, and kayaking. There is also another lake within walking distance. Unfortunately, there is no WiFi or cell service here, and the horseflies can be relentless. Despite the one noisy neighbor playing their car radio all afternoon, the campground is otherwise quiet and peaceful. It is a great place to get away from it all and enjoy some quality time with nature.

From The Campground
Bear Lake Campground is located on a wooded peninsula jutting into the lake. The campground offers 27 campsites, with a majority of them accommodating campers as long as 30 feet and longer. The campsites may be reserved through the campground reservation system at www.recreation.gov. The campground provides drinking water, vault toilets, swim beach, picnic area, and a boat landing. All roads are paved with blacktop. The beautiful sandy beach at Bear Lake is great for swimming. The lake is restricted to electric boat motors only. The water quality is moderate at a maximum depth of 20 feet. Besides northern pike, fish species include a variety of panfish and largemouth bass. Trout fishing opportunities are also nearby on the Peshtigo and Rat Rivers. Canoeing, kayaking, paddling, and windsurfing are some of the popular non-motorized water activities on Bear Lake. The Peshtigo River is also nearby, where you can launch your canoe or kayak at Big Joe Landing on Highway 139 just north of Cavour and observe wildlife on this seven-mile section of the river. Quietwater enthusiasts will enjoy the segment where the river winds through dense northern lowland forest. Wildlife is especially abundant in this stretch. Watch for beaver, otter, and white-tailed deer along with the occasional black bear. This is a fun run for novice whitewater enthusiasts that features several long stretches of class I and class II rapids.
