Alpine North Campground is a tranquil, pet-friendly campground located off Hwy 26 with a beautiful backdrop of the Pallisades Reservoir. It is a great spot for family camping, with spacious, clean sites that can accommodate small travel trailers and fifth wheels. There are no water hookups, electricity or showers, but there is potable water and restrooms. The camp host is friendly and helpful, and can point visitors to an RV dump station. The only downside is the abundance of bugs, but there is a variety of wildlife, including squirrels and birds. The campground is close to the road, so there is some noise from vehicles, but it is still a great spot for those looking to explore nearby Jackson, Grand Tetons NP and Yellowstone NP.

From The Campground

Caribou-Targhee National Forest offers camping, picnic tables, tent camping, parking, toilets, boat ramp, and drinking water. The forest is located near Greys River, Salt River, and South Fork of the Snake River, which offer great river fishing. Indian Creek, McCoy Creek, and Big Elk Creek are also great for stream fishing. The forest also offers an Alpine Wildlife Viewing Area, where visitors can view wildlife and enjoy interpretive signs. Any boat that is registered in Idaho or another state, and any non-motorized vessel (canoe, kayak, raft, drift boat, etc.) will be required to purchase and display IISF stickers in order to legally launch and operate in Idaho. Inflatable, non-motorized vessels must be less than 10 feet in length to be exempted from this requirement.
