GenieSummary
Western Hills Campground in Rawlins, Wyoming is a convenient and easy-to-access park located off the interstate. Though it is essentially a large gravel parking lot without any significant vegetation or shade, the park has long and spacious sites that can accommodate even the biggest rigs. Some of these sites also have full hook-ups available for use. The reception at the park is friendly and efficient, and the roads and sites are primarily made of gravel. Though some low spots retained water from prior rain during our visit, the roads are spacious and easily navigated. The restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities at the park are exceptionally clean and well-maintained, perhaps some of the best around. One downside of the park is that there was no real place to walk our dog, and the dog run was not always well-kept or clean. However, the staff were very courteous, welcoming, and more than happy to help when needed. Other minor drawbacks include some muddy and mushy gravel during certain times of the year, as well as hook-ups being located right next to neighbors picnic tables in some cases. Overall, Western Hills Campground is a great park for an overnight stay during long road trips. It may not have a lot of frills or amenities, but it certainly makes up for it with its easy location, friendly staff, and immaculate facilities.
