This Forest Service campground is located just across the highway from the Medicine Wheel National Monument and is the perfect base camp for exploring the area. It is situated at 9100 and is windy and cold most of the year, but is a great place to stay in the summer months. The sites are suitable for RVs and tents, and the toilets are clean. The campground has several loops that nicely disperse campers and the sites have some great tree cover. There are also a couple of hand pumps for water and clean restrooms and trash cans. Unfortunately, there are no streams in or near the campground, but there are waterfalls within about 20 miles. The drawback is the lack of trees and forest, but the expansive views make up for it. There are also fences and guards across the roads to keep the grazing cows out. The fee is $17.00 per night, with an additional vehicle fee of $9.00.
