GenieSummary

Blue Springs State Park is a great spot for camping and glamping in rural Alabama. The main attraction is the spring-fed pool, which is great for swimming, but can be too cold even in the hot summer months. There are plenty of grassy areas and a playground, and the spring itself is beautiful and flows into a little creek. Unfortunately, the park is not well maintained and the staff is often absent. Food is left on the ground, the bathrooms are filthy and infested with flies, and the trash cans are full. The hook ups at the sites need to be replaced, and the 30 amp plug left marks on power cords due to missing screws. The campground is set up nicely with most sites spaced out decently, but they are not level and the bathhouse is old and not very clean. The worst part is the flies, which are a problem in all areas of the park. The concession building looks vacant and the water is a flimsy PVC pipe coming straight out of the ground. Despite these issues, the park is still a great spot for a night or two and is great for those looking for some seclusion. There is a convenience store and two restaurants nearby. The sinkhole walk is amazing and the camp hosts are very nice and helpful.

From The Campground

Blue Springs State Park is a great summertime spot in the Wiregrass Region of Alabama. The park's main attractions are the swimming pools, which are fed by a crystal-clear underground spring that remains a cool 68 degrees year-round. The spring pumps 3,600 gallons of water per minute into the dual octagonal sandy-bottomed pools. Once over the spillway, kids can search for critters among the rocks in the shallows before it flows into west fork of the Choctawhatchee River. The camping is excellent as well, with 47 modern campsites, seven of which have sewer hook-up, each outfitted with a picnic table and grill, and campfires are allowed. Visitors can tent camp in the modern and primitive areas. A bathhouse and play areas are conveniently located in the campground.
