The Lake Chinnabee Recreation Area is a great spot for camping and hiking in Alabama. The campground is clean and well-maintained with full hook-ups and a swimming pool with beautiful views of the mountains. There are plenty of hiking trails, including the Cheaha Express Trail and the Pinhoti Trail, both of which are located close to the campground. The main road leading to the park is steep with long uphill and downhill sections, so make sure your tow vehicle can handle it. There is no cell service or Wi-Fi in the campground, but Verizon signal can be found in the Upper Primitive Campground. There is also a camp store and laundry facilities. The Bald Rock Boardwalk (ADA accessible) and the Mountain Laurel Trail offer great views. Be sure to study the campground maps carefully to avoid left-side campsites or those on steep topography.
