Cherokee Campground in Helena, AL is an older park, but the owners are excellent and take great care of the area. The entry road is smooth and paved. The RV spots are made of busted up concrete, but somehow campers end up level with just minor adjustments. The roads are on rustic asphalt and the grounds are generally clean of trash, etc. While there isnt much to do in the campground, the office is well-stocked with essential items. The park is a mix of residents and short-term guests and we found it to be a nice place to stay. Overall, its one of those campgrounds that sticks with you and we had a good nights sleep.
From The Campground
Cherokee Campground and RV Park is a family-focused campground located in Helena, Alabama. Originally called Cherokee Beach, the 16-acre lake continues to be a focal point for those who camp. Guests can fish from the bank without an Alabama license. The park provides a simple 'home town' atmosphere and reasonable rates for short-term and extended-stay camping. Amenities include a bathhouse with washers and dryers, a recreation room with a foosball table and elliptical, and a lovely deck overlooking the lake for a relaxing picnic.
