Joe Wheeler Resort is a beautiful campground located on the Tennessee River, perfect for fishing and boating. The campground has a variety of sites, ranging from primitive to improved, with full hookups for RVs. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the bathrooms and showers are well-maintained. There is a buffet most nights, and the food is generally good. There are plenty of wildlife running around, and the park has great trails, large RV sites, and great events. The campground also has a store, boat launch, and a nice lake beach. While the improved sites are great for RVs, they are also suitable for tents. The primitive sites are simple and offer great opportunities for hammocking and exploring the area.

Joe Wheeler State Park offers a variety of outdoor activities and amenities for visitors to enjoy. The park features a marina, sandy beach, golf course, hiking and biking trails, and fun and educational programs. Visitors can also enjoy dining at Daniella's Restaurant and take a scenic lake cruise on Wheeler Lake. The park offers transient boat slips and hosts park events throughout the year. Visitors can learn about wildlife and nature through the iNaturalist and Outdoor Alabama programs, and practice Leave No Trace principles. The park also offers discounts for veterans and special park specials.
