Spring Lake Recreation Area is located in the Arkansas River Valley on the western edge of the Ozark National Forest. This area is known for its beautiful, natural scenery, sandstone bluffs, flowing steams, lakes and pristine landscapes. The 82-acre Spring Lake is a favorite area for water sports such as swimming and fishing. Camping and picnicking are also popular pastimes. The beautiful hardwood forest surrounding the lake provides the backdrop for wildflowers that bloom year-round. The campground has 13 family campsite units and 19 family picnic units. Pavilions, a swimming beach, and a bathhouse with showers are available. Boating is allowed with a “no wake” restriction at all times. Camping trailers are allowed, but no special facilities with hook-ups are available. All campsites have a picnic table, tent pad, fire ring, and lantern pole. Areas of interest include Cove Lake, Mt. Magazine State Park, Mt. Nebo State Park, Sorghum Hollow Horse Camp, Mt. Magazine Scenic Byway, Huckleberry Horse Trail, and Petit Jean River. Medical services and camping supplies are available sixteen miles away in Dardanelle.
