This campground is the closest one to the Louisiana Purchase State Park, which does not offer camping due to its swampy area. It is a city operated site with gravel pull ins and few amenities. The campground is basic and has a severe ant infestation, making it unsuitable for tent campers. The rate has doubled in 7 years and the entrance road is now paved. The sites overlook the White River and there is train noise to keep product moving. The hookups are 50 amp power and water, but the sewer is not operational. After rains, the area is quite nasty with no grass between sites or around hookup post. Verizon cellular speed is adequate. Check in at City Hall is required and payment is cash or check. It is popular on weekends during hunting season. The rail crossing is quite steep on both sides, but long 5th wheels should not have any difficulties.
