From The Campground
Dale Bumpers White River National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) was established on September 5, 1935 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt with the purpose to protect and conserve migratory birds and other wildlife resources. The refuge roads and trails on the South Unit are opened March 1 through December 15 except the Jacks Bay Hunt Area and Levee Hunt Area will remain open through duck season. All other refuge roads and trails are open year-round. Roads and trails may be closed to land vehicles due to flooding. The Arkansas Junior Duck Stamp Art Contest Winner is announced here. National wildlife refuges can offer a view of some of the most pristine and remote landscapes across the country. When visiting these wild places, please prepare yourself accordingly. Adequate clothing and supplies are essential.
