Waveland Park is an Army Corps of Engineer campground located 13 miles south of Mount Magazine on Blue Mountain Lake in Havana, AR. Overall, the campground exceeded expectations. It is a hidden gem and much nicer than many national parks, with very modern facilities. The campground is well managed and maintained, with little to improve. The pluses of this campground include a good location and a short drive to Mount Magazine, very nice beach to swim, very spread out campsites with mature trees for shade. Most sites are reasonably level and some even have great views of the lake. There are modern flush toilets and free showers available, and the bathhouse is very clean. The campground cost only $12/night for a tent site with a national parks senior pass. There were no cons that we experienced. The campsite had limited reception for ATT and T mobile. Also, it is worth noting that Arkansas has small freshwater jellyfish in many of its lakes. At first, we thought they were joking, but a quick online fact check confirmed that they were right!
From The Campground
Blue Mountain Lake Campgrounds offer 87 beautiful, tree-shaded campsites with electrical and water hookups. Restroom and shower facilities are located in Waveland and Outlet Parks. Camping is offered year-round with some reduction in services and facilities during the November through February timeframe. Primitive camping is also allowed in seven designated areas. The campgrounds provide access to swimming, boating, fishing, picnicking, and sightseeing.
