Tompkins Bend Campground on Lake Ouachita is a great destination for RV and tent camping. It is situated at the end of the LOViT cross country MTB/hiking trail and offers a variety of sites ranging from primitive to water and electric hookups. Each site is equipped with a table and a fire pit, and there are flushing toilets nearby. The campground is surrounded by water and the views are especially stunning at sunrise. The sites are close together and the forest is not as dense as one might expect, but there are still plenty of trees and wildlife to observe. The bathrooms are clean and the one near the boat ramp is heated. Verizon signal is good enough for making reservations. There is a small marina and people can park their boats on the beach in front of their camping site. The roads are narrow and need tree trimming, and the water spigot is in the ground in a meter box with low pressure. The campground is generally quiet and a great spot for fishing, boating, and swimming.
