Lake Chicot State Park is a large, quiet, and remote campground located on the nation’s largest oxbow, 8 miles northeast of the town of Lake Village. It is a popular spot for fishing, with a fishing pier, bait store, and marina (closed during the off-season). Other amenities include a basketball court, pool, 3 pavilions, playground, and a horseshoe pit. The park is home to abundant wildlife, including deer, raccoons, squirrels, pelicans, and ducks. Cell phone and antenna reception is good due to the lack of leaves on the trees. Campsites are long, paved, level, and most have an adjacent parking pad for your tow vehicle or toad. Some sites are waterfront and offer a beautiful view of the sunset over the lake. The restrooms are standard campground type, with the exception of the newer one marked on the map as heated, which has eight individual stalls that each include toilet, sink, and shower. The camp store and marina have reduced hours. Wi-Fi is currently available only at the office, but efforts are underway to extend it through the campground areas. The park is beautiful and the many campers seem to really enjoy themselves. The only downside is that some of the sites are not level, which can be a problem for motorhomes. This is a great spot for those wishing to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
