Tar Camp COE campground is a beautiful spot on the Arkansas River, located between Little Rock and Pine Bluff. It is a great place for a weekend getaway, offering a peaceful and quiet atmosphere. The sites are level, with both paved and concrete pads, and come with covered picnic tables, fire rings, and movable posts for hanging lights or trashbags. There is no sewer hook-up, but there is a dump station at the exit. The campground also offers a boat dock for fishing, a large playground for children, an expansive pavilion for get-togethers, and nature trails. Unfortunately, the campground is sometimes closed due to weather or political reasons, and the area is known to have a dangerous current and hazardous bottom, so swimming or wading is not allowed. Mosquitoes can be a problem in the evenings, so be sure to bring repellent. All in all, Tar Camp COE is a great place to stay for rest and relaxation, with plenty of wildlife and stunning views of the Arkansas River.
