What others are saying about this campground
Rocky Neck State Park is a great campground for those looking for a convenient, dry camping experience. Located right off I-95, the park is close to all major interstates and state roads and is a popular destination for beach goers. The campsites are equipped with a central bathhouse, fire pits with grills, and picnic tables. The nearby beach is a short walk or drive away and offers a wonderful overlook for crabbing. The park also has a concession stand, nature center, picnic area, and boat ramp. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts, entrance booths are often unmanned and can lead to traffic jams. There is a tent-only area and plenty of tree coverage for each campers preferences. The campground is also a great home base for day trips to Mystic Seaport and Mohegan Sun Casino. The only drawbacks are that there are no electric or pet hookups, and no places to buy firewood.

From The Campground

The beautiful, gently sloping, soft sandy beach, picnic areas, birdwatching, train watching, sprawling trail systems, and salt marsh viewing platforms make this park ideal for weekenders, vacationers, and day-trippers. Rocky Neck provides something for all members of the family. Located on Long Island Sound in the town of East Lyme, Rocky Neck is 710 acres of pristine beach and coastal thicket situated between a salt marsh and tidal river. The park’s varied terrain offers something for everyone. Clear waters and the stone-free beach with expanses of white sand make it ideal for swimming. The geologic glacial features, steep walls, and boulders bring climbers out to the beach. Crabbing and fishing attract anglers in every season. The public enjoys use of the park thanks to a few farsighted conservationists who secured the land in 1931, floating their personal funds until the State Legislature authorized its purchase.
