What others are saying
The campground is open year round and offers a variety of camping options. Open Pond is a great campground located in the Conecuh National Forest. It is a hidden gem, with its dense woods, peaceful trails, and beautiful lake. There are no reservations, but the camp host is very helpful in letting you know how full the campground is. The campgrounds range from $6-12 per night depending on RV or tent only and there are all the amenities that you need. There are walking trails, fishing, and paved roads for bike riding. The sites are spread out, so you don’t have to worry about neighbors being too close. There are also plenty of park squirrels to watch if you want to take a break from a good read. The pond is perfect for stargazing and the shoreline trees create a beautiful golden setting full of yellow, orange, and reddish colors. There is a store nearby with limited hours, but it closes early. Be prepared for it to fill up quickly on long/holiday weekends. Open Pond is a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature.

From The Campground
Open Pond Recreation Area offers scenic views, well-maintained facilities, and a diversity of recreational opportunities. The campground includes primitive sites as well as those with water and electric hook-ups, with easy access to boating, fishing, hiking, and bicycle riding. The day-use area is designed for peaceful picnicking with a panoramic view of Open Pond. A group shelter here was built in the 1930's by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). It retains its original distinct design and is interesting to those who enjoy CCC history. The campground has 74 sites and 65 RV sites. Camping is first-come, first-served. Camping fees range from $8-$16 per night; Day use is $3 per vehicle.
